Engagement Portraits

Engagement portraits are one of those things your mom and grandmother did – if you’re going to announce your marriage in the local newspaper, you’ll need a photo to go with it, right?

At Screaming Light, we’ve re-imagined the old-fashioned engagement portrait session. Come out for a few hours on the town or in the country (or both) with us. Let us photograph the two of you being a couple, doing the things you like to do together. Your engagements will be fun, happy, whimsical – just like you!

These photos aren’t just for publication in the paper. Let us design a custom photo guest book with your portraits, or put one of them in a large matt for your guests to sign. We can even design custom invitations featuring the two of you! (You can also submit them to the paper, or use them to create a wedding website.) The engagement session is also a great chance for everyone to get acquainted, which helps you be more natural on your wedding day.

When you need to schedule an engagement session varies depending on what you want to do with the images. If you’re planning to send out photo invitations, make sure you leave time before the mailing deadline to select your favorite images and approve the invitation proofs. 8 to 12 months before your wedding date is a good estimate. A photo guest book isn’t as urgent – 4 to 6 months out is plenty of lead time for your session. And a guest book matt has very little lead time; 1-2 months before your wedding is ample. A wedding website, obviously, can be set up whenever you want. Ask us if you’d like to set one up; we’re happy to format your images for use on the web.
