Welcome Baby Ben!

Posted on March 14, 2010

Shelly and Thomas’s family got bigger by one last week – and we had the privilege of photographing 3-day-old Ben on Sunday. Sam and Luke were thrilled to be able to hold their new baby brother for a few photos, and of course they wanted to pose for a few more too!

Congratulations again Shelly and Thomas. Ben is a handsome, happy baby boy!

Grants Senior Portraits: Michelle

Posted on November 22, 2009

Yesterday Michelle, her mom, and her best friend came down to Las Cruces to have Michelle’s High School Senior Portraits taken – all the way from Grants! Michelle is super gorgeous – beautiful red hair and a gorgeous smile! We were so excited for her session! We’d been planning for her session for awhile now, and we couldn’t have been blessed with better weather. Fall is in full color here in the Mesilla Valley, and we took full advantage of the wonderful light out there!

When Michelle called us, she was super excited about our Rio Grande sessions, and really wanted some shots in the river. We were a little nervous about it, I’ll admit – being the end of November, I was worried that we’d all freeze to death in the Rio. Yes, it was cold. It was absolutely worth it! The good news is, the river is low right now, so rather than the usual hip deep wading we do during these sessions, it was only shin high. Cold though it was, we had the best time splashing around, and laughing at each other.

Michelle, we had such a great time with you and your family, thanks for making the four hour drive to see us! Best wishes for your senior year!

Las Cruces Senior Photos: Mariah in the River

Posted on October 19, 2009

One of the things seniors have been really fired up about this year is our “Rio Grande” session, but since the schools are pushing the seniors to get their photos in so quickly, many students have been reluctant to brave the water in the fall temperatures. Not so with Mariah! She was so excited for her river session, and frankly, so were we!

Mariah is so amazing to work with – all of our seniors are really, but I have to tell you, when we first met with her and her family about her sessions, I was surprised at how soft spoken and quiet Mariah seemed to be. I thought “this will require some work to gain her trust in front of the lens”. I couldn’t have been more wrong. When the lens is pointed Mariah’s way, she owns it! Her river session resulted in some images that will likely be gracing the studio in the months to come!

You go girl!

Here’s some images from the session!

Senior Portraits: Brenner

Posted on July 18, 2009

Brenner seriously cracks me up. We’d been planning all summer to take some senior portraits for him, but he has such a busy tennis schedule, it took us longer than we thought to get to them! Nonetheless, we did get to go hang out with Brenner, and his sister Raleigh the other night, and as always, it was a riot.

First we headed out to the tennis courts at NMSU and took some shots of Brenner doing his thing. The shot where he’s bouncing the tennis ball was so funny that we nearly couldn’t shoot straight – every time I had him look at the camera, the ball would go bouncing off into oblivion. We did eventually get it, but this shot of him looking down towards his racket and ball is one of my favorites.

So after some tennis, and taking a few more photos around the campus, we headed over to Starbucks. Now Raleigh, his sister has been a friend of mine for a few years, and we’re always laughing about the great impersonations Brenner can do. Recently, there was a skit on SNL that we’re all big fans of, and which Brenner imitates with amazing skill. So I urged Raleigh to convince him to bring a hoodie, despite the heat, and we headed over to Starbucks for an iced coffee. The shot we took of him doing this impersonation, is not really the type of senior shot we’d usually do, but is so “Brenner” that we had to do it!

So… Brenner…. what’s so scary about Connecticut anyway? Leaving your tennis racket in a Pottery Barn?

We love you guys!

Last minute!

Posted on December 24, 2008

edit-img_5230Merry Christmas everyone! It’s been a really exciting year here at Screaming Light Studios, and we wanted to take a moment to tell everyone THANK YOU for such an awesome year. We attended so many beautiful weddings, met so many wonderful kids, and photographed some amazing families, and we are so thankful for all of you! We would never have made it this far without such great clients and friends.

The upcoming year is going to bring some really great promotions, so make sure you keep checking in to see what’s happening! As I sit here at my computer, and look at the huge whiteboard behind it, I have to smile knowing what we’ve got planned. Every single month has a new surprise, and we think you’ll be as excited as we are about 2009!edit-img_5236

The studio is closing for Christmas, but we will be back on December 30th! As sort of my last hurrah before the holidays, I made a special trip out with Suzanne and Julio this morning. Their engagement photos were posted a couple of days ago, but as we were driving home from that shoot, Suzanne was wishing they’d brought their NMSU sweatshirts for some photos at the University. We decided that we’d meet up this morning and get those shots, and I’m sure glad we did. Since it’s the holidays, both of us had our kids with us as assistants… and they were so well behaved. Thanks for meeting me out there you guys, and have a happy holiday! I’ve posted my two favorite shots from this morning!

Merry Christmas everyone!
