Las Cruces Derby Girls: Rockin’ the Pinup
Posted on March 2, 2010
We had an epic shoot on Sunday with the girls of the Crossroad City Roller Derby. The girls were an absolute blast to work with; they showed up at the studio looking like punk-rock divas. They were full of fun ideas, posing together, mock-fighting, and generally having a great time. Even though it was cold and intermittently rainy, we got some great pinup images in the studio before heading out to some of our favorite locations. We shot a few Western-look images in front of the Organ Mountains, then decided it was too cold to do much more, so we headed back to the studio for hot chocolate. When everyone had warmed up again, we hit Tommy’s (sadly defunct) Roller Rink, which is now a print shop – but still has the sign! – for a team photo. Afterwards, all 30+ of us headed to dinner at Si Senor. It was an amazing shoot; we’re looking forward to doing it again!
(Did I mention we got a ton of really great photos?)

Happy (Retro) New Year!
Posted on January 1, 2010
Happy New Year from Screaming Light Studios!
We’re gearing up for an even better 2010 – and that’s not going to be easy; 2009 was a banner year at the studio!
If you follow us on Facebook, you may already have a hint about our newest offering: Pinup Photography! Roz couldn’t resist the urge to recruit a few guinea pigs from among her Facebook friends, and some of the stuff we’ve done during the initial trial period is amazing. Here’s a sample, or 3:
Every pinup session includes a retro-style magazine cover; watch for plenty more in the new Pinup category, located under Portraits on the main title bar.

Nice i would like to join but never in my life have worn roller skates too bad
Derby’s all about doing things you never thought you could. Put on some skates, get your feet under you (the roller rink in Alamogardo is a great place to rent skates and learn – tell Mark what you’re doing there and he’ll be happy to help), and come on out!
