Las Cruces Family Portraits: The Mott Family!

Posted on December 6, 2009

Wow, with Christmas creeping up on us, we’ve been behind on our blogging! Not so long ago, we met up with the Mott family for their family portraits, and here they are! First, we met up at at playground where the families two youngest sons (now grown up) used to play when they were young. They really wanted to do some portraits on the playground, so we played and got some fun shots of everyone horsing around. After that, we headed out to the desert for some more traditional work, and some nice portraits of grandma near her home.

Finally, we all headed to grandmas house for some portraits around the piano, and we captured this great shot of the whole family. I really love the black and white shot of grandma by the piano – they brought it all the way across the country when they moved here, because the piano has been in the family for a long time, and she’s played it all her life. What a wonderful, fun and sweet family, we really had a blast doing your family portraits!

Grants Senior Portraits: Michelle

Posted on November 22, 2009

Yesterday Michelle, her mom, and her best friend came down to Las Cruces to have Michelle’s High School Senior Portraits taken – all the way from Grants! Michelle is super gorgeous – beautiful red hair and a gorgeous smile! We were so excited for her session! We’d been planning for her session for awhile now, and we couldn’t have been blessed with better weather. Fall is in full color here in the Mesilla Valley, and we took full advantage of the wonderful light out there!

When Michelle called us, she was super excited about our Rio Grande sessions, and really wanted some shots in the river. We were a little nervous about it, I’ll admit – being the end of November, I was worried that we’d all freeze to death in the Rio. Yes, it was cold. It was absolutely worth it! The good news is, the river is low right now, so rather than the usual hip deep wading we do during these sessions, it was only shin high. Cold though it was, we had the best time splashing around, and laughing at each other.

Michelle, we had such a great time with you and your family, thanks for making the four hour drive to see us! Best wishes for your senior year!

College Senior Portraits: Darcell

Posted on November 22, 2009

Darcell is about to graduate from NMSU in Biology, and is then headed off to vet school! What an accomplishment! When her mom contacted us about shooting some portraits for her graduation announcements, we decided to capture some images of her around Las Cruces, as well as trying to get some shots of her with the fall colors. Since Biology is her major, we headed over to NMSU as well as some other places around town and had a blast shooting!

We wish you the best in following your dreams Darcell!

Sophie’s Fall Portraits

Posted on October 19, 2009

It’s always a treat to photograph Sophie, who must be one of the best-behaved toddlers we work with. Since we did her one-year-old photos, we’ve been anxious to work with her again, and we got our chance last week!

Sophie’s going trick-or-treating as a ladybug this year, and she brought her costume into the studio (with a little help from Grandma, who’s visiting from New Jersey) to pose on our fall set.

Dawn and David: Married in Mesilla

Posted on September 20, 2009

Dawn and David had a great wedding and reception at Josephina’s Old Gate in Mesilla. David and Dawn’s mom decorated the reception area while Dawn got into her dress in the Inn. Aiden, their son, ran around helping everyone with everything – especially dropping his sippy cup everywhere!

Dawn put together all of her own flowers, and the fall theme was picked up in the details of the wedding. David’s parents showed up unexpectedly for the ceremony, and were able to stay for photos, which is always a nice surprise! After the ceremony, under an arch in the back garden, Josephina’s was nice enough to let us capture a few bridals in the antique store. After a few more around Mesilla, we returned to the patio for the reception.

After dinner under the setting sun, DJ Amer spun up the tunes, and the dance floor filled up. Amer is an experienced club DJ, but this was his first wedding, and he did a great job keeping things hopping all night. Dawn and David are such a cute couple, and Roz and I join all of their friends and family in extending our best wishes to them!

Graduation!

Posted on November 15, 2008

Today I headed down to NMSU where I met up with Angela for a few shots before her graduation! She’s worked really hard over the years, and is about to graduate with her masters degree in Accounting. We had some beautiful light, and the campus is just on fire with fall foliage right now.

Fall is such a gorgeous time of year for photography in Las Cruces, and I always get so excited when we shoot portraits or weddings in autumn. I wish it weren’t such a short lived season in New Mexico! Of course, the rest of the year is nice as well… but fall is special.

Good luck to all NMSU students who will be graduating soon! We wish you a bright future Angela, it was fun!
