Las Cruces Wedding: Alyssa + Bill

Posted on May 10, 2010

I have to tell the story of meeting with Alyssa for the first time – she came into the studio to talk to us about her wedding and engagement session, and I couldn’t shake the feeling that I KNEW her from somewhere. We went through all the particulars, discussing her plans, and forming ideas. When she signed the contract, I realized by her last name where I knew her – she and her sister could be twins, I swear – and I’ve known her sister for years, as a writer for the Las Cruces Bulletin. Natisha, her sister has a daughter nearly the same age as our eldest, and the two of them posed for the cover of a magazine together. Ever since then, I’ve been looking forward to shooting Alyssa and Bills wedding.

We met with everyone at the New Mexico Farm and Ranch Museum, a popular spot for weddings since their patio over looks our beautiful Organ Mountains. Alyssa was a little nervous, but once the dress was on, and the ceremony began, the nerves subsided. She visibly relaxed when she saw Bill waiting for her at the alter. After a short but beautiful ceremony, we took the couple out around the grounds of the museum for some bridals. I have to admit, these are some of my favorite images in a very long time – we couldn’t have had better skies, light, and subjects!

Now I know that some of you who follow the blog are used to our ring shots, and usually I include one with every wedding. But I liked her ring so much that I included TWO this time!

The cake was beautiful too – and we learned that Alyssa made it HERSELF! That pretty much floored me, since my cakes look like something that belongs on Cake Wrecks. Cake, flowers, dress…. it was all gorgeous.

We had a wonderful evening you guys, thanks for letting us be part of your day!

Family Portraits in Las Cruces: Robin and Family!

Posted on December 6, 2009

This afternoon we caught up with Robin and her family – she’s about to deploy for Iraq soon, and they wanted to get some family portraits done before she has to leave. They drove up from El Paso and met us here at the studio, where we captured a few quick photos. After that, we headed down the road for some more shots down by one of our favorite fences.

Thank you Robin for all you do for our country, we wish you well on your deployment!

Las Cruces Family Portraits: The Mott Family!

Posted on December 6, 2009

Wow, with Christmas creeping up on us, we’ve been behind on our blogging! Not so long ago, we met up with the Mott family for their family portraits, and here they are! First, we met up at at playground where the families two youngest sons (now grown up) used to play when they were young. They really wanted to do some portraits on the playground, so we played and got some fun shots of everyone horsing around. After that, we headed out to the desert for some more traditional work, and some nice portraits of grandma near her home.

Finally, we all headed to grandmas house for some portraits around the piano, and we captured this great shot of the whole family. I really love the black and white shot of grandma by the piano – they brought it all the way across the country when they moved here, because the piano has been in the family for a long time, and she’s played it all her life. What a wonderful, fun and sweet family, we really had a blast doing your family portraits!

Grants Senior Portraits: Michelle

Posted on November 22, 2009

Yesterday Michelle, her mom, and her best friend came down to Las Cruces to have Michelle’s High School Senior Portraits taken – all the way from Grants! Michelle is super gorgeous – beautiful red hair and a gorgeous smile! We were so excited for her session! We’d been planning for her session for awhile now, and we couldn’t have been blessed with better weather. Fall is in full color here in the Mesilla Valley, and we took full advantage of the wonderful light out there!

When Michelle called us, she was super excited about our Rio Grande sessions, and really wanted some shots in the river. We were a little nervous about it, I’ll admit – being the end of November, I was worried that we’d all freeze to death in the Rio. Yes, it was cold. It was absolutely worth it! The good news is, the river is low right now, so rather than the usual hip deep wading we do during these sessions, it was only shin high. Cold though it was, we had the best time splashing around, and laughing at each other.

Michelle, we had such a great time with you and your family, thanks for making the four hour drive to see us! Best wishes for your senior year!

College Senior Portraits: Darcell

Posted on November 22, 2009

Darcell is about to graduate from NMSU in Biology, and is then headed off to vet school! What an accomplishment! When her mom contacted us about shooting some portraits for her graduation announcements, we decided to capture some images of her around Las Cruces, as well as trying to get some shots of her with the fall colors. Since Biology is her major, we headed over to NMSU as well as some other places around town and had a blast shooting!

We wish you the best in following your dreams Darcell!

Las Cruces Children Portraits: Sheridan

Posted on November 22, 2009

It’s certainly family and child portrait season around here – with the holidays coming up, everyone is hurrying in to get their images taken for Christmas cards and family gifts. Last week we had Sheridan and her mom Stephanie in the studio for a quick session for their cards; and the idea was to get Sheridan to make sweet faces and naughty faces for their card concept. Sheridan is a total sweetheart, and full of energy – such a joy to photograph every time we see her! Here’s a quick compilation of the many faces of Sheridan! What do you think she’ll get in her stocking this year?
