A Wedding In El Paso: Adrian & Deanna
Posted on April 27, 2010
Things have been hopping around the studio, with seniors graduating, and wedding season in full swing! Last weekend, we spent our Saturday with Adrian and Deanna for their gorgeous wedding in El Paso. We’ve been looking forward to this one since we photographed their engagement session in San Antonio, TX last summer. They spent a long time planning this wedding from 500 miles away, but with the help of family and friends, it went off without a hitch!
We started the day with Deanna at her salon: Fantasy III. Deanna loves the place so much that every time she visits her family in El Paso, she calls ahead and makes an appointment with her hairdresser! Now that’s loyalty! Once Deanna’s hair was done, and the veil was in, Jason headed over to hang out with the guys while they prepared themselves for the big day. One of Adrian’s buttons broke while he was putting on his vest, and it took a round with the hot glue gun to fix it – but no one was the wiser come ceremony time!
Meanwhile, I hung out with Deanna and her girls at Deanna’s parents house, where makeup was applied, and the dress was donned. Her poor dad seemed a little out of sorts with so many girls running around his house, but he took it in stride. Pretty soon, everyone was ready to head to the church in the HUGE limo! We had some fun getting shots in there on the way to the church.
The ceremony was gorgeous of course, being a traditional Catholic Mass. During the lasso, Adrian’s best man accidentally broke the lasso, and had to tie it around Adrian. They had a good laugh down at the alter over that one. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house though, when Deanna and Adrian walked back down the aisle as husband and wife. They’d been waiting a long time for this day, and finally, it was DONE!
Once everyone had hugged the bride and groom and wished them well, we went all over El Paso taking some photos of the bride and groom and their wedding party. First stop was downtown El Paso at the Rio Grande Theater. We ran into some photographer friends of ours who were also doing some wedding portraits down there – it must have been the busiest wedding weekend of the year! The shot of Adrian and Deanna kissing in front of the theater is a play on a similar one we took at their engagement session; I couldn’t resist the replay. After we finished up there, we decided to head over to El Paso High School for some photos. The huge Gothic columns and architecture are AWESOME for photos. Apparently, we weren’t the only ones with this idea – when we arrived there, a huge quincenera was using the school as a backdrop as well! While we waiting for them to finish up, we snapped some cute stuff of the couple with their bridal party. Once we got our turn on the steps, we shot some beautiful couples portraits and some bridals, as well as some more with the entire party. While we were shooting, ANOTHER wedding party showed up, so at that, we headed off to the reception.
What to say about the Monte Carlo Hall? How about…. freaking AMAZING! It was so gorgeous, I almost couldn’t believe my eyes. The decor is very Italian, with little nooks and statues in the corners, and huge chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. We had a grand time photographing all the little details, and all the fun events of the evening. They really tore it up on the dance floor!
Adrian and Deanna, thank you so much for the wonderful evening, we had so much fun with you guys, and we can’t wait to see what the future has in store for you both!
