Dani and Matt: Wedding in Las Cruces
Posted on April 18, 2010
Dani and Matt’s special day started out early. Dani woke up at 5:30am to re-make her wedding bouquet; the first time through, the white flowers wilted faster than expected. By the time we arrived at the Hotel Encanto, she was in full wedding mode; her hair and makeup were complete, and she was ready to get into her wedding dress. The bridesmaids got dressed with her, then the ladies headed downtown, to the historic Rio Grande theater, for some photos. They had to walk through the Saturday Farmer’s Market to get to the theater; Dani got more attention than she counted on just walking in!
Meanwhile, Matt and the guys got dressed at Dani’s parents’ house. Dani’s dog, Snickers, couldn’t figure out what all these guys were doing there! After preps, we headed to Mesilla Square and the bar at Double Eagle for the groom’s formal photos. Double Eagle was kind enough to let us use the space even though the event planners were already setting up for another wedding when we arrived.
The ceremony was held at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral on Espina. (I love their stained glass windows!) Afterward, we took the newlyweds back to Encanto, for some great formal images of the bridal party in Azul and the hotel lobby, before heading to the reception. Dinner was served on the patio at the Sunset Grill, at the Sonoma Ranch Clubhouse. Unfortunately, our view of the greens was obstructed by the temporary wall necessitated by the wind, which was picking up. The brightly-colored table decorations reflected the spring weather; the entire reception was bright and beautiful.
Dani and Matt own Dani Rae Photography, based in Las Vegas; they took their own engagement photos, and designed their own photo guestbook for the reception. It’s always flattering to be selected to document the wedding of another photographer!
Matt and Dani, congratulations again, and thank you for including Screaming Light in your wedding day!
